The Complete Guide to Anderson Valley
Being one of the coldest wine growing regions in California, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are the top grapes for this AVA. They are often blended by Roederer Estate (owned by the Champagne House Louis Roederer) to make some of the most outstanding California sparkling wines.
Anderson Valley is also ideal for Riesling and Gewurstraminer grapes due it’s chilly climate (most well known for these varietals is Navarro Vineyards).

Wineries
Goldeneye offers a Napa-like experience featuring a caviar tasting or a standard flight. While it’s one of the more expensive experiences, the wines and the views are worth it.
Roederer Estate is the sister property to the Louis Roederer Champagne House in France. For that alone, I recommend visiting for a tasting. Beautiful grounds, bubbles and a full menu of small bites. Yum.
Navarro Vineyards is one of the more well known families in wine industry. Navarro’s dessert wine is “the most lovely” sweet wine in the state according to Karen MacNeil’s Wine Bible.
PennyRoyal Farm is located in the town of Boonville. This beautiful, fully operational dairy farm is a must stop for any wine and cheese enthusiast. This is the perfect stop for any cheese fiend.
Bee Hunter is a fun stop for Pinot, of course, but they also produce several rarer varietals. You can look forward to the super walkable location and trying varietals you may not otherwise discover. Located in downtown Boonville, it’s a fun stop for a taste.
